Have you heard? Madison’s Northside livability rate has gone up immensely in recent years with it’s thriving local businesses, parks and attractions. In the past couple years, we’ve seen new and expanding businesses such as Willy Street Co-op and Bear & Bottle pop up in the surrounding area making this side of town a sought-after community to live in and be a part of.
Here are some of our favorite spots to visit around the area:

1. Cherokee Marsh
Cherokee Marsh is the largest wetland in Dane County. The marsh is located just upstream from Lake Mendota and alongside the Yahara River and Token Creek. The North Unit has 2.6 miles of trails along with boardwalks and observation decks where wildlife live and can be observed by any who passes through.

2. Northside Farmers’ Market
The Northside Outdoor Market runs from May to October every Sunday of the month, and the Indoor Market is active in the Warner Park Community Recreation Center from October to December. It’s a great place to support local farmers and businesses around the area. We recommend the delicious crepe stand for Sunday breakfast!

3. Willy Street Co-op
The Northside Willy Street Co-op opened in August of 2016 and has transformed the Northside Shopping Center after Pierce’s Northside Market closed earlier that year. Willy Street Co-op is a food cooperative located in Madison that specializes in natural, organic and locally produced foods. This is the third Willy St Coop to open in the Madison area, with the original located on Willy St. and second store located in Middleton.

4. Benvenuto’s Italian Grill
Benvenuto’s is a locally owned Itallian restaurant that has a versatile menu with hearty dishes the whole family will love. The Northside location is one of six Benvenuto’s and has operated in the Northside Shopping Center since 2002. The restaurant has a gorgeous bar and dining area with a semi-private dining space that seats up to 40 people. The open kitchen gives an added touch to the dining experience where you can watch the chefs prepare your food to perfection.

5. Warner Park
Warner Park is truly a community treasure for the Northside. The park attractions include an off-leash dog park, bike/walking path, creek with an abundance of wildlife, tennis courts, baseball fields and a colorful community shelter that often hosts concerts, reunions and parties. Although, the main attraction is most definitely the Madison Mallards baseball stadium. Occasionally, the park plays host to a variety of social happenings such as charity events and community festivals at the Warner Park Community Center.

6. Manna Cafe & Bakery
Manna Cafe has resided on Madison’s Northside since 2005 and have since provided the area with genuine hospitality, a welcoming atmosphere and a delicious made-from-scratch breakfast and lunch menu. Manna is known for it’s top notch locally-roasted coffee selection and bakery items. It’s the place to be for brunch on the weekends, so come early to grab your spot!

 7. Bear & Bottle
Bear & Bottle opened in 2017 and offers a chill and relaxing atmosphere to anyone who dines here. The menu consists of locally sourced pub food and a wide selection of craft brew. The restaurant has a unique, rustic look with wide garage doors that open up to their gorgeous patio during the warmer months. This is a perfect spot to bring your out-of-town friends for a beer and some delish pub grub.
