Elvehjem in East Madison

The Elvehjem Neighborhood is a hidden gem on Madison's East side!

The Elvehjem Neighborhood is a walkable and bikable community with a mix of ages, housing, and lifestyles. It is centered around the Elvehjem Elementary School, which is within walking distance of all homes and features a boundless playground for children of all abilities built with the help of a devoted group of parents, volunteers, and businesses.

The school borders Elvehjem Park and several acres of conservatory forest. The park has a large reservable shelter, and the conservatory is made up of a mature hardwood forest and prairie. Droster Park and Acewood Park further enhance the neighborhood.

Acewood Park contains a natural kettle pond and an extension of the Capital City Bike Path, connecting Cottage Grove Road to Buckeye Road. Many services are available at the edge of the neighborhood, such as a grocery store, pharmacy, vet clinic, gas station, bakery, and restaurants.

The Elvehjem Neighborhood is represented by a very active association and dedicated volunteers who work hard to build community.
